Travelling across Europe

(writing reports on different european countries – Unit 1 – 6th grade).

After teaching the vocabulary and familiarizing my students with the format of a report, I devided my class in groups . Each group chose a different country,selected information about the country’s weather,place in Europe ,weather ,food ,its people etc. and created a file with beautiful photos of the specific country. They also chose appropriate music and each group created a video – report of the country. It’s a project they all enjoyed despite the technical problems and the lack of time . Caretta – Caretta Environmental Project

 

Caretta – Caretta

 

φωτογραφίαOne of the most memorable environmental projects I’ve done! We started working on it with my students in 4th grade and completed it in 5th grade! Me and my students met this adorable animal,learned where it lives,what it looks like,how to protect it and what to do when we see a wounded caretta.

We also did various activities on biodiversity,craftwork ,a poster,a brochure and finished with a presentation in our school of the whole project! We also cooperated with “Archelon” , which provided us with useful material on caretta – caretta after we had adopted  Amalia, our caretta! Our gift to them was a power point presentation that my students created in groups.Below you can see our power point which includes everything we did during the project.The project was done in both languages English and Greek , since we presented it to young students of 1st and 2nd grade among others. Digital Biographies ( 2013 – 2015)

                                                       Biography-on-Film

This activity started as a writing activity with my 6th graders. I really thought of it as a good way to use past tense forms.

Later on, as some of my students didn’t have access to Internet at home or couldn’t print any photos to accompany their projects ,we decided to use Photostory 3 and create video biographies.In that way, they had the chance to familiarise themselves with digital means,collaborate with their classmates , solve various problems and above all be creative! You can find all the details in the following     Digital Biographies  ppt presentation which I had the chance to present in the “I share”seminar organised by Mrs Kotadaki,our English Advisor.

 Here are my students’ works! (I tried to intervene as less as possible in their final product, so once in a while you may notice some mistakes! Remember that the aim of the activity is to foster their sense of accomplishment and make them more confident users of the FL.)

Ολυμπιακή σημαία

Στις 31 Μαρτίου, αφιερώσαμε δυο ώρες στην σημαία των ολυμπιακών αγώνων, κάναμε μια ιστορική αναδρομή στους Ολυμπιακούς αγώνες από την αρχαιότητα ως και σήμερα, στην αρχαία Ήλιδα και την αρχαία Ολυμπία, στους πρώτους σύγχρονους Ολυμπιακούς αγώνες και το νόημα του ολυμπιακού πνεύματος και της ολυμπιακής σημαίας.
