Exploring food idioms , in Unit 2 with my 6th grade students, turned out to be an enjoyable experience.First we did some research on the Internet on food idioms and the meaning they convey. Then the students watched a power point presentation on the same subject and did a matching activity on the most common food idioms.
During the process we had the chance to compare and contrast the english food idoms with the greek ones.We found differences (as cool as a cucumber) and similarities (butterfinger) and decided to decorate our class with some of them.
It was quite funny and my students had the chance to view food words from a totally different perspective, using the language to tease each other.
